One thing I love about John the Baptist is the humility that you guys mentioned. I have always wondered as Jesus’ popularity grew, did it draw JtB’s followers away from him? Did JtB avoid the jealousy that most of us would be tempted by? Or did he adapt to the changing times and just become a political commentator (i.e. the moral critique he had of Herod)? Interesting to think about.
The John the Baptist comments are very good.
