Glory and Peace

Re:Verse reading–Luke 2:1-20 (day two)

And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.” vs. 13-14

Do you seek peace? Is it justice and truth that you are after in your life? Notice the order in which the angels offer a solution: Give God glory, then receive his peace. Not exactly how we normally would think this would or should come about. Our nature would say…let me achieve peace, and then I will glorify God. This is one of the things that angels were telling us that night. Look up, it’s not about you. It is only ever, and always about Jesus. Do you want peace? Try letting go of what is keeping your head down, look up and praise his name.

By the way these verses serve as the central theme to our Christmas at First presentation this year. Please make plans to join us Saturday and Sunday at 6PM. Invite your neighbors, friends, and family. Let’s glorify God together.

  1. My favorite quote, “When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.”~~Jimi Hendrix

Peace is the product of love. Love produces peace and joy! It goes in that order, not the other way around. When we spread love, we spread peace. Love can change a hardened heart and can help make peace with enemies! When our surroundings are filled with God’s love, we will experience peace and joy! An act of love should help promote obedience and help build a better community and society. Love builds love; hate builds hate!! Love builds followers; hate builds enemies.

God promised peace, joy and eternity when He is in us and we are in Him. It is a give and take and return! I am convinced that we will experience peace and joy when the love for God overrules other earthy love, such as money and position power. Peace will come when we spread love! It does not matter how much we do for others but how much love we show in the action we take!

I will end with my own quote, “Love is my music. Peace is in my soul. Joy is in my heart.” Peace will be sure with us when God is pleased with us. Let’s celebrate Christmas at First. We will come! Peace is with you all!
