Re:Verse reading–Acts 20:17-38 (day five) 32 And now I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
Paul’s confidence in the work and effectiveness of the Word of God is remarkable. The power and ability found in studying and hearing the Scriptures taught and preached is life giving and life changing. Verse 32 contains immeasurable promised potential.
What if we read and meditated on God’s Word each day with that kind of perspective? What if we met weekly in small groups to hear God’s Word being taught so that we might discuss, understand, and process its timeless truths? What if we gathered to worship the Living God through prayer and song while hearing God’s Word preached with passion and clarity? What kind of potential does God’s Word give a church to fulfill the mission and purpose of building and growing God’s Kingdom?
Scriptures are the Word of God and unchanging. The Bible is the Word of God. God is the creator of mankind and the earth so His Word is authentic and authoritative and is a permanent guide for our joy and peaceful living. Reading and understanding God’s Word can be a life changing for those who are in need of a new way of life from a troubling and sinful nature or a dissatisfied life.
Scriptures reveal God’s instructions, promises for our future and His will for our lives. He is the creator so we can trust that God will deliver His promises if we obey and follow His instructions through written scriptures. It is easy to be distracted with our daily life issues and challenges. And so often, we forget that humans cannot provide us a permanent solution for a joyful and peaceful life. By making a habit of learning the Scriptures on a regular basis, we may find a way out of the existing conflicts. God created us and He communicated to us through Scriptures.
How do we know of His will for us if we don’t try to learn and to understand God’s Word? Everyone learns differently and how we learn best is up to each individual; however, for effective retention of God’s word, if we can apply what we learn and discuss the usefulness and the impact of God’s Word on conflict prevention and resolution and on providing a different perspective of seeing things to the current situation, the Scriptures are the guide!
Do you turn to Scriptures to help you solve your conflicts? Do you turn to Scriptures to find hope and future promises from our creator? Do you turn to Scriptures for a new way of thinking or for searching a new beginning? No matter what your purpose is, learning the Scriptures is the beginning of wisdom in my view!
