  1. Thanks for asking us to recall our own literal baptism. Although the mechanics of the act itself are a part of the moment, there is genuinely an ethereal quality in the moment you come up from the water that cements a personal spiritual bond between yourself and the Holy Trinity that is unique and impenetrable by anyone else except you and your Lord and Savior. It is, in some ways symbolic, but it is a “living spiritual birth” that, because we are often old enough to remember ourselves, is an ordinary act of the most extraordinary moment in our lives. It isn’t just, do this because Jesus did, too, and God expects it. There is a discernable, palpable bond you will feel/experience as you emerge in the newness of life that is…well, for lack of a better word, the love of God from within you, and on that moment you will be reassured no one can ever interfere with that bond. You may ruin it through your deeds and actions and wind up in spiritual Siberia among your peers, but you will never be without the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost or forgiveness afterward. I hadn’t thought of the exact moment I was baptized in years — not the profession of my faith –the literal experience itself. It’s one of the most vulnerable moments of my life, yet one of the surest. You can never do it again because you won’t find a need to when it’s real.
