Chris Bryan and Aaron, Congratulations on your one hundredth anniversary! This is my first time replying to re-blog. I moved from San Antonio to Abilene in 2018 and having the following you guys as faithfully as I can since then. One thing I found remarkable about today from what Aaron said was Jesus commands to follow me. Not serve me not worship, not honor me or obey me or love me. While these are all good things, after my many years in the military, his command to follow him has a special connotation. It demonstrates his willingness to lead and to go anywhere and everywhere before those of us who follow him. He asked nothing of us that he will not and has not done himself.
Jesus did not say come follow me and I will help you become fishers of men. No, He said I will MAKE you fishers of men. . . I understand this as a promise. If you will follow me I will MAKE you fishers of men!
I love love love how Bryan brought up the witnessing element. Jesus did not see these individuals as a herd or assembly line of people to be converted. He went to each individual, tailored his point to each individual so that it would resonate with them deeply, and aimed at inspiring them while acknowledging their potential. Brilliant and there is much there to emulate! Great discussion!
