Re:Verse reading–Luke 24:1-12, 33-49 (day one)
“Two men suddenly stood near them in dazzling clothing. . .’Why do you seek the living One among the dead? He is not here, but He has risen. Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee?’ “–v 4-5
It was a mild rebuke, an expression of the amazement and frustration angels often have with us. Why don’t humans listen to Christ? Why don’t we trust Him? These angels remembered exactly where Jesus was when He said the words. How could the disciples have missed it?
The Bible speaks often of the careful attention angels give humans. “We have become a spectacle to the world, and to angels, and to men.”–1 Corinthians 4:9. Part of God’s purpose in the church is to demonstrate His wisdom to “principalities and powers in heavenly places.“–Ephesians 3:10.
It is one more reason for me to be brave. At all moments, all choices and opportunities, angels are watching.
Angels are mentioned in the Bible in numerous times and are God’s messengers. Mary’s own birth was predicted by angels, and Archangel Gabriel personally gave Mary the news that she was destined to be the mother of Jesus.
God created angels as spirit beings who have greater capacity and ability than us, human beings. As such, I am sure they are capable of acting in any capacities that God directs and sends them. They are powerful as God’s Chief Servants, however, they have no authority apart from God. Our Lord Jesus and Savior has complete control over all spirit beings.
I am convinced that God uses them to carry out His will on earth, including watching over us! Personally, I have not heard or seen an angel but I believe that each child of God has a good guardian angel to provide support and to help us stay away from Satan’s evil messengers.
Even angels do not have divine authority and cannot intervene and dramatically change a situation in our lives, the thought that they always watch over us, stay close to us so we will never be alone is very comforting!
Do you direct all your requests for your needs to God or to angels? It is amazing to see how our God created human beings and spirit beings to do and to carry out His will on earth!
