My Father’s Affairs

Re:Verse reading–Luke 2:39-52  (day four)

V.49  No disrespect…no rebellion…no backtalk…no pridefulness…Jesus just responded to His parents with His heavenly wisdom.  This was the first proclamation of Jesus of His identity as God’s son.  Mary had just referred to Joseph and his anxiety of not knowing where Jesus was.  Jesus began the break with His earthly family and His identification as God’s son.  It was this statement of relationship with God that would most infuriate the Jewish leaders in coming days.  Mary and Joseph knew Jesus better than anyone on earth…they knew of His birth and of the prophecy for His life.  They knew He was to be the Messiah.  What they didn’t know was how all of that would play out in Jesus’ life.

Who is Jesus?  It is a question we each must answer.  How we answer it will make all the difference in our life.  Who is Jesus?  Why did He come?  How should I respond?  These are questions to ponder in our hearts just like Mary did.  What is your answer?

  1. Who is Jesus? I am interested in learning more about Him this Christmas. Learning more about Him is my top priority for 2017 Christmas and beyond. Since becoming a Christian, the desire to learn more about Jesus and to know Him more has been strong!

Jesus’ true identity is important to both believers and non-believers. Two questions I have heard people talked about and are still talking about: 1) Why is the question over Jesus’ true identity so important?, and 2) Why does it matter whether or not Jesus is God?

My answer is that Jesus had to be God because only God could pay the penalty for the sins of the whole world. Only God could pay such an infinite penalty. Jesus is Lord and Savior; He is Rescuer and Savior!!

Who is Jesus? This is a million-dollar question and answer! Who is Jesus to Christians? Who is Jesus to non-Christians? Why Jesus is God? Why following Jesus is a smart decision? Why does it matter if Jesus is God or not? Merry Christmas to all!
