Waiting

Re:Verse reading–Acts 1:1-14 (day two)

So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, “Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?” – v. 6

Waiting is the worst. When you are ready to move nothing can frustrate like having to wait. Perhaps you are ready to leave for school, work, or church and nobody else in the house is ready. Does this try your patience? Waiting for good things can be difficult too. Sometimes the 9 (+) months of pregnancy seems to feel much longer. Promotions, graduations, vacations, there are many things that we long for and seemingly they never come fast enough.

Jesus says wait before he says go. Wait, pray, prepare these are needed for the task ahead. You may think you are ready, but God surely knows best. If you are in that waiting place, ask God to reveal how to best prepare for the next move.

  1. Waiting is always difficult! Always difficult! In real life, when we trust and believe in someone, we can patiently wait for an answer. A waiting period can produce an anxiety in some individuals, but when we have faith and trust in God, the wait is a little bit easier and more manageable. I always believe that God knows us better than we know ourselves and He knows that we will be anxious to receive an answer.

So wait patiently. Patience is a good trait in leadership or in non-leadership. Pray hard for what you want. When we believe in God and have faith and trust in Him, we will receive His answer in His timing!

I found that praying and learning God’s word will help overcome anxiety and keep our hope alive while waiting for God’s answer. Impatience is definitely not the strategy to bring health, peace and joy to one’s life but patience is!

In summary, the more we trust and believe in someone, the more patient we are toward that person. We will wait for that person more patiently if we trust and know that that person is reliable and will deliver what he or she says or promises. Likewise our patience with God is a measure of how much we trust and believe in Him.

What are your thoughts on overcoming anxiety as you are waiting for a solution or for God’s answer? What does a wait mean for you?

  2. And while we are waiting for God’s answer, He may lead us to something else that may be even better! He may give us a better alternative we may have not thought of or have been aware of!

Have you experienced such a time when God’s answer would take so long??
