The dark side of the moon

RE Verse reading–Matthew 16:13-26 (day four)  “From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he MUST go to Jerusalem and suffer many things . . .and that he MUST be killed and on the third day be raised to life.” (vs 21)  There is a dark side of the moon.  I am not sure why, but there is a side we never see.  The moon is like God.  There is a side of Him that we rarely see (or don’t want to).  For most of my life, the Spirit of God has been a source of salvation, peace and joy.  Gradually, I’ve come to see the side of Him that is a source of pain and loss.  His holy wrath and unspeakable love required Christ to die.  God calls me to join Him, to carry a cross, to suffer and serve. It is a dark message.  I don’t always want to see it (neither did Peter), but I MUST!

  1. Pastor, thank you for your candor. Many of us seem to always want to understand everything – including the nature of God. Is it possible we can’t? I pray that I will have a better understanding of our Heavenly Father and for a true peace that passes understanding when I can’t.

    1. Dear Pastor,

In my Christian walk I have experienced God’s discipline. It was painful but because my Father loved me enough to teach me through suffering, I came to love Him and need Him more and more.

Thank you for feeding us, your sheep.

  2. Pastor Guthrie,

I listened to Sunday’s sermon tonight during some downtime and all I can say is Amen… may it be so. This has always been the Vision. His body, led by the Spirit, changing the world by loving and serving it.

I have been and will continue praying for such clarity of vision for the body at FBCSA.

Thanks for your hard work in preparing that sermon.

    God Bless you.

  3. “Seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened…” What a promise! Progress can at times be very disturbing. New truth is not always comfortable, but when it is about God it is always GOOD and profitable.
