Lesson

Re:Verse reading–Luke 4:1-13  (day three)

“[The devil] left him until an opportune time.”  You know those things that catch your eye, get your goat, tick you off, push your buttons, turn you on? Yeah, Jesus could have listed those things as well. Whenever you finally admit to the Lord how difficult the struggle really is, he responds by saying, “That was my struggle too.” The Bible says he’s sympathetic, not unsympathetic, because our temptations were his temptations. Believe it. This wilderness encounter was only the beginning of what the devil had planned for Jesus. The devil even showed up in his friend Peter’s counsel for crying out loud. To face temptation well, we must learn from Jesus to struggle like he struggled before we can learn to resist sin like Jesus resisted sin. Pay attention.

  1. I could not agree more! We all could learn from Jesus how he dealt with and managed His own struggles!

Probably we would not go through the same level of struggles or trials that Jesus endured. His cruxification on the cross was so terribly painful and would be one-of-a-kind no one would subject to; however, He remained who He was, as the Son of God, and committed to His mission on earth despite all the ordeals and trials!

In life and in the process of living, we will face struggles. Struggles, pain and sufferings are part of life. Some of these struggles will cause us to suffer and to experience pain. To some degrees, we will experience pain and suffering at both personal and professional fronts, but probably we will never reach the level of pain and suffering Jesus went through during his Ministry. Some of us will experience pain and suffering as we watch our loved ones in pain and we felt we were helpless!

I am convinced that only through building personal and spiritual strengths and through learning and living the principles that the Lord has given to us in the Bible that we can lift our mental, emotional and physical burden and have positive perspectives during our struggles.

I had the chance to read the blog below, Jesus Who Struggled, and thought this would help us understand more about the types of struggles Jesus faced during his Ministry!

How we dealt and managed our struggles matters! How we embrace our struggles define who we are!
