Re:Verse reading–Acts 4:5-31 (day three)
“By what power or what name did you do this?” There’s a difference between wonder and suspicion. Wonder asks, “How can these things be?” Suspicion inquires, “Are you trying to gain the upper hand?” Wonder makes room for miracles; suspicion fears loss of control. Wonder draws a person nearer to the source of miracle; suspicion drives a person away from anything unexplainable. Wonder prepares the heart for the eternal; suspicion hardens the heart towards God. Some of us will approach the spiritual realm with wonder; some of us will approach it with suspicion.
Bryan, I really appreciated your thought today. What an insight into the passage. Thank you
I could not agree more, “Wonder draws a person nearer to the source of miracle; suspicion drives a person away from anything unexplainable.”
A wonder mind leads to exploration of all possibilities while a suspicion mind leads to mistrust and doubt of realities. When suspicion becomes a stronghold it can debilitate us and prevent us from seeing the good, the light, the blessings, and the potential.
I totally agreed that when we wonder about God, we are curious to learn about Him and we are excited to learn the Scripture and explore all the miracles that Jesus performed. And when we have a suspicion mind, we will turn away from wanting to know and learning about God. Suspicion begets disobedience, which in turn begets further suspicion.
We see so many scientific advancement and exploration that have continuously enriched our lives, from computer technologies to space exploration, medicines for healing, and so on. Thanks to those who have wonder and curious minds. Without them, life can be very boring. Wonder and curious mind leads to creativity and innovation for sure!
Curiosity begets wisdom. We can only gain wisdom when we have a desire to learn, to explore, to understand and to reflect on our experiences. Fortunately, I believe strongly that we are all born with curiosity and an amazing sense of wonder and we have a desire to learn everything, and want to wonder about just anything, simply because we find it interesting, exciting or important.
It’s an amazing world we live and work in, and the possibilities for our curious and wonder mind are truly unlimited. Now, my mind wonders. I wonder what will be the topic for everydayprayer tomorrow! Let’s our mind wonder! Have a Blessed day!
