Amen!
Great discussion! Missed Bryan’s input, but hopefully he’ll post it on Wednesday.
As for the song, I think the main reason it’s remembered is BECAUSE it’s a song AND has a peppy little tune. Just think of all the little childhood songs you still remember today that had nothing to do with Bible stories. For some we had no clue what the words even meant, but we still memorized them. 🙂
Years ago, a friend at FBCSA said, “Jesus came for the down-and-out AND for the up-and-out.” (Perhaps “up-and-in” would be a more apt description.) I’ve thought about that idea ever since.
But I suppose the main point was that Jesus turned to and poured into any who were seeking Him out because they knew they needed Him.
I’d love for our congregation to sing the Zaccheus song
Sunday morning in the 11:00 worship service!!!!
